What types of agribusinesses can apply?
BRACE is open to African agrifood businesses working across the value chain. This includes crop and livestock production, processing, aggregation, packaging, value addition, marketing, distribution and other businesses connected to the agrifood sector.
Who is eligible to apply?
You should own, manage or represent an agrifood business operating in Africa; be actively involved in the business and able to influence decisions; have an interest in climate resilience and sustainable practices; be able to access the program online; and commit to participating throughout the six-week experience.
Must I already be an AFC Hub member?
No. AFC Hub membership is not required to apply. Participants are, however, encouraged to join the wider AFC community to access additional resources, relationships and opportunities.
Must I have participated in an earlier BRACE program?
No. Eligible agrifood businesses that did not participate in earlier BRACE cohorts are welcome to apply. Previous participants can remain connected through the AFC community and its wider opportunities.
Do I need to have adopted climate-smart practices already?
No prior expertise or fully climate-resilient operation is required. What matters is your willingness to learn, identify areas for improvement and take practical steps to strengthen your business.
Can my business participate from its current location?
Yes. The primarily digital delivery model is designed to make BRACE accessible to eligible agrifood businesses across African countries.
Is BRACE 2.0 training free?
No. BRACE 2.0 training costs US$50 for selected participants.
What does the US$50 training fee cover?
The training fee covers the core BRACE experience, including digital learning, live interactive sessions, program coordination, learning resources and participant engagement. It does not cover travel, accommodation, study visits, direct business financing or additional partner-supported opportunities.
How much time should I commit each week?
Participants should plan for approximately four hours per week. This includes attending scheduled Friday-evening live sessions, completing self-paced modules, submitting required assignments and participating actively in peer and practical learning activities.
How long does BRACE 2.0 run?
The core program runs for six weeks and combines flexible online learning, expert-led live sessions, practical assignments and peer engagement.
Is the program fully online?
The core program is primarily digital. Participants use the BRACE learning platform and attend scheduled online sessions. When partners make additional opportunities available, eligible participants may also be invited to technical sessions, mentorship, networking or study visits.
How will live sessions accommodate African time zones?
Live interactive sessions are planned for Friday evenings, with timing selected to accommodate participants across African time zones as reasonably as possible. Confirmed session times will be provided during onboarding.
What happens if I miss a live session?
Live-session attendance forms part of the program commitment. Where recordings or alternative arrangements are available, the BRACE team will communicate them, but participants should not assume every missed session will have a recorded alternative.
How do I apply?
Select Application in the menu and complete the online application form. Successful applicants will receive further instructions covering the US$50 training fee, onboarding and access to the BRACE learning platform.
What will I learn during the program?
The learning experience explores climate risk and agribusiness, adaptation and mitigation, climate-smart processing and packaging, resilient logistics and distribution, climate finance and carbon markets, and the relationship between policy, inclusion and resilient business growth.
What will I gain from participating?
Participants access practical climate-smart agribusiness learning, expert-led sessions, BRACE tools and resources, peer networking, links to the wider AFC ecosystem and completion recognition for those who satisfy program requirements.
Will BRACE provide funding for my business?
BRACE 2.0 does not guarantee grants or direct financing. Participants may receive information about relevant funding, climate-finance and investment opportunities, or be connected to opportunities made available by partners. Each opportunity will retain its own eligibility and selection conditions.
Is mentorship or business advisory support included?
Mentorship and advisory support are not guaranteed parts of the core program. Where partners provide additional support, eligible participants may be invited to access mentorship, technical assistance or business advisory services.
Will there be a study visit?
A study visit may be considered where there is a clear learning objective, a suitable host or partner, sufficient participant demand and dedicated funding or in-kind support. Any confirmed visit will be communicated separately to eligible participants.
What happens after I complete BRACE?
Participants who meet the program requirements receive BRACE completion recognition or certification. They also remain connected to the wider BRACE and AFC ecosystem, where relevant resources, events, partnerships and opportunities may be shared.
Does completion guarantee finance, markets or partnerships?
No. BRACE provides knowledge, resources, connections and exposure to opportunities, but does not guarantee funding, investment, contracts, market access, mentorship or other commercial outcomes. Individual opportunities will have separate requirements and selection processes.
